February Wrap Up + March TBR

Hi friends!

So, as you may have gathered by that weirdly appropriate Moriarty gif, I’ve been gone for quite a while. In a bit of a life update, I was interning from the beginning of the year until mid-Feb and let me tell you, blogging with a full-time job is so much harder than I ever thought it could be. And by the lack of blogging, you can probably tell that I did not adjust well. But I’m back to being a full time student (*cough* sleeping most of the day *cough*) so we should be returning to our usual scheduled posting now! For what it’s worth I MISSED YOU GUYS HEAPS!

Anyway, onto the wrap up and to be read!

So in a turn of events, I’m apparently in a reading slump this month which is, you know, fun. But despite the fact that I didn’t actually read that many books (*cries*), the ones that I did read were all pretty good:

  • The Way of Kings Part I by Brandon Sanderson  ★★★★
  • Echoes in Death by J.D.Robb  ★★★★
  • When Dimple Met Rishi by Sandhya Menon  ★★★★½
  • A Conjuring of Light by V.E.Schwab  ★★★★★

I actually was supposed to dedicate February to reading Way of Kings and Words of Radiance by Brandon Sanderson and as you can tell, that massively failed. I ended up only reading the first part of Way of Kings and I think my main problem with continuing on was that I was so hyped up for them and they, *gasp*, kind of let me down. The Mistborn Trilogy are literally my favourite fantasy books ever and so Way of Kings had a lot to live up to, in its defence. I will 100% continue on with them because I did really like most of the characters and the world building and magic system in general (come on, it is Brandon Sanderson after all), but I think I just needed a little break.

On the plus side, I got to read 2 of my most anticipated releases for 2017 this month – A Conjuring of Light by V.E.Schwab and When Dimple Met Rishi by Sandhya Menon (which was graciously provided to me in eARC form from the lovely Sandhya herself). Both of these books were FANTASTIC and I basically adored them to pieces and YOU SHOULD ALL READ THEM *throws books at your face*. (But, When Dimple Met Rishi only comes out in May so you should pre-order that one instead).

In other words, I thought it would be a great idea to completely forget that I have this thing called a “blog” in the month of February. Here’s to a better March, friends.

I feel like this reading slump is only going to intensify so I really don’t want to make a huge TBR for the March but I have a Goodreads goal to reach and I’m  S T R E S S E D. But hey, hopefully stress will actually force me to read the books that I have to this month right?

First off, I really want to continue with The Stormlight Archives and so I’m going to try and finish The Way of Kings Part II at the very least. If I’m up for it, I’ll also try and start Words of Radiance and then I’ll be up to date with the series *fingers crossed*.  I’m also super excited to read The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas so if my copy would FINALLY get to me, I’m definitely going to devour it in March. I also just received the ARC of Down Among The Sticks and Bones by Seanan McGuire, the companion novel to Every Heart a Doorway (which I absolutely adored) so I’m excited to get to that as well!

Other than that, I truly just plan on winging the rest of the month. I’m not really in the mood to read anything (hence, the slump) and so I kind of just want to leave room for me to pick up things on a whim!

Did you have a good reading month in February? What are you planning on reading in March?

Until next time,

Nice wrap-up! Haha juggling things with an internship definitely sounds intense. And lol Moriarty gif – have you seen Season 4? I only just caught up about a week ago 😂

I’m slowing down on the reading in March due to too many books = fatigue in Feb, and starting back at uni. At the moment it looks like a reread of Under a Painted Sky, some short stories from Gold Standard (anthology by a Singaporean publisher of cult fiction from East Asia, SE Asia and the diaspora), Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro, and possibly The Hate Race.

I can’t wait to see what you think of down among the sticks and bones! I really loved every heart a doorway so I’m excited to read more! I’ve been in a bit of a slump as well, not a bad one but I’ve just been kind of ‘meh’ about books. I read simon vs the homosapiens agenda though and it’s kind of pulled me out of it!

I hear ya, girl – working full time & blogging/bookstagramming/booktubing at the same time seem to be mutually exclusive or something xD Hope you had a fun time at your interning job! EEP! I need to continue with the Mistborn series before I forget everything 😀 ALSO I’M MAJORLY EXCITED FOR WHEN DIMPLE MET RISHI, one of my friends also got an eARC & she’s been raving about it ❤
